“Everything has changed. When I was young, I depended on my parents. But now I am the head of household for my family.”
My name is Daw Nuing Kyi and I am 31 years old from Sempi Village. My youngest sister is a student and my daughter attends kindergarten. My aunt lives with us, but she cannot work. Both my mother and father died one month a part in 2009. They did not agree with my husband, so we divorced, and I struggled with my life.
In our village, most of the women work in weaving, while the men work in livestock. Our families only income is from weaving. The money is not enough to pay for my child’s education.
When the PRICE project came to our village, they gave training in weaving and how to use weaving machines. The training is very effective for me and the other villagers as I can remember how to weave and all the patterns.
Each year I weave 8 to 10 patterns for longyi’s. Some designs can take from one week to one month to finish. Basic designs take 2 days. All are different depending on the design. The selling price also depends on the design. Some designs cost 100,000-150,000 MMKs and others 500,000 MMKs. Basic designs cost between 50,000-60,000 MMKs each. I usually sell them myself, but sometimes I also sell to stores in Hakka and Kalay.
The PRICE project also setup Savings & Loans groups. Each month they hold a meeting to discuss how to save money and how to do project activities. Our group has 10 members and we save 500 MMK each month. I borrowed 190,000 MMKs. I used the money to buy one pig and other items for weaving. The project also provided me 100,000 MMKs. I was able to buy another weaver shelf and cotton, so my sister can weave with me.
Now our livelihood is not difficult. Thank you so much, this has benefitted our family.
ရက်ကန်းရက်ခြင်းက ချင်းပြည်နယ်ရှိ အမျိုးသမီးဦးဆောင်အိမ်ထောင်စုများ၏ ဘဝကိုပြောင်းလဲခြင်း
အရာအားလုံးက ပြောင်းလဲသွားပါပြီ။ ကျွန်မငယ်ငယ်တုန်းက မိဘတွေအပေါ်ပဲမှီခိုခဲ့တာပါ အခုတော့ကျွန်မကိုယ်တိုင် မိသားစုကို ဦးဆောင်နေရပါပြီ
ကျွန်မနာမည်က ဒေါ်ငွေကြည်ပါ။ အသက်က ၃၁ နှစ်ရှိပြီး ဆမ်ပီးကျေးရွာမှာနေထိုင်ပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မညီမလေးကတော့ကျောင်းသူ ပါ။ သမီးလေးကတော့ KG တက်နေပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မအဒေါ်ကကျွန်မတို့နဲ့နေပါတယ်။ ဒါပေမဲ့အလုပ်မလုပ်နိုင်ပါဘူး။ မိဘတွေက လည်း ၂၀၀၉ ခုနှစ်မှာ လပိုင်းပဲခြားပြီးတော့ ဆုံးပါးသွားပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မအမျိုးသားနဲ့ ကျွန်မကိုလည်း မိဘတွေက သဘောမတူခဲ့ ကြပါဘူး။ ဒါကြောင့်ကျွန်မတို့ ကွာရှင်းခဲ့ကြပါတယ်။ အဲဒီနောက်ပိုင်းကျွန်မအနေနဲ့ ဘဝကိုတစ်ယောက်တည်းရုန်းကန်ခဲ့ရတယ်။
ကျွန်မတို့ရွာမှာ အမျိုးသမီးအများစုက ရက်ကန်းရက်ကြပါတယ်။ အမျိုးသားတွေကတော့ မွေးမြူရေးလုပ်ကြပါတယ်။ကျွန်မတို့ မိသားစုရဲ့ဝင်ငွေကို ဒီရက်ကန်းရက်တာကနေပဲရရှိပါတယ်။ ဒီဝင်ငွေကတော့ ကျွန်မကလေးတွေ ပညာရေးအတွက် မလုံလောက် ချင်ပါဘူး။
PRICE စီမံကိန်း ကျွန်မတို့ရွာကိုရောက်လာတဲ့အခါမှာတော့ ရက်ကန်းသင်တန်း၊ စက်ချုပ်စတဲ့သင်တန်းတွေကိုပေးပါတယ်။ ဒီသင်တန်းက ကျွန်မအတွက်အပြင် ရွာသားတွေအတွက်လည်း အရမ်းကိုအကျိုးရှိပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မအနေနဲ့လည်း ဘယ်လိုရက် လုပ်ရတယ်ဆိုတဲ့ပုံစံတွေကိုလည်း မှတ်မိနေပါတယ်။
ကျွန်မအနေနဲ့ တစ်နှစ်ကို လုံချည်ကွင်း ၈ ကွင်းကနေ ၁၀ ကွင်းလောက်အထိ ရက်လုပ်ပါတယ်။ တချို့ဒီဇိုင်းတွေကတော့တစ်ပတ် ကနေ တစ်လလောက်အထိ ကြာတတ်ပါတယ်။ ရိုးရိုးဒီဇိုင်းကတော့ နှစ်ရက်လောက်ဆိုပြီးပါတယ်။ ဒီဇိုင်းပေါ် မူတည်ပြီးတော့ အချိန်ကွာပါတယ်။ ရောင်းချတဲ့အခါမှာလည်း ဒီဇိုင်းပေါ်မူတည်ပြီး ဈေးကကွာပါတယ်။ တချို့ဒီဇိုင်းတွေက တစ်သိန်းကနေ တစ်သိန်းခွဲလောက်အထိရှိပြီး တချို့ကတော့ ငါးသောင်းလောက်ရှိပါတယ်။ ရိုးရိုးဒီဇိုင်းဆိုရင် ငါးသောင်းကနေ ခြောက်သောင်း ကြားအတွင်းကို ရှိပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မကိုယ်တိုင်လည်းရောင်းချပါတယ်။ တစ်ခါတစ်လေဆိုလည်း ဟားခါးနဲ့ကလေးမှာသိမ်းထားပြီးမှ ရောင်းချတာ ရှိပါတယ်။
PRICE စီမံကိန်းကနေပြီးတော့ ငွေစုငွေကြေးအဖွဲ့ကို ဖွဲ့စည်းပေးထားတာရှိပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် လစဉ်အစည်းအဝေးကို ကျင်းပပြီး တော့ ပိုက်ဆံဘယ်လိုစုမလဲဆိုတာနဲ့ စီမံကိန်းလှုပ်ရှားမှုတွေဘယ်လိုလုပ်ကြမလဲဆိုတာကို ကျွန်မတို့ဆွေးနွေးကြပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မတို့အဖွဲ့မှာ အဖွဲ့ဝင် ၁၀ ဦးရှိပြီး လစဉ် ၅၀၀ ကျပ်စီစုပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မအနေနဲ့ ၁၉၀,၀၀၀ ကျပ်ချေးပါတယ်။ ဒီပိုက်ဆံကို ဝက် ကလေးတစ်ကောင်ဝယ်ဖို့နဲ့ ရက်ကန်းရက်ဖို့ချည်ဝယ်ဖို့အတွက် အသုံးပြုပါတယ်။
နောက်ပြီးစီမံကိန်းကနေပြီးတော့လည်း ကျပ်တစ်သိန်းစီထောက်ပံ့ပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မအနေနဲ့ ရက်ကန်းစင်နဲ့ လိုအပ်တဲ့ ချည်တို့ကို ဝယ်ဖို့အတွက် သုံးပါတယ်။ အခုဆိုကျွန်မညီမလေးလည်း ကျွန်မနဲ့အတူရက်ကန်းရက်နေပါပြီ။ အခုဆိုရင် ကျွန်မတို့မိသားစု စားဝတ်နေရေးက မခက်ခဲတော့ပါဘူး။ ကျွန်မတို့မိသားစုကိုအခုလိုထောက်ပံ့ပေးတဲ့အတွက် ကျေးဇူးအများကြီးတင်ပါတယ်။
