My name is U Saw, and I am the headmaster of a primary school in Kayin State. When I graduated from college, I couldn’t find a job, so I moved to Yangon where I worked at an ice-cream shop for 8 months.
Soon after I applied for a teaching position working at a primary school for 3 years before moving to my current school in 2018.
When I arrived at the school, there was not enough teachers or furniture, and the villagers didn’t hold school management (SMC) meetings. I tried to foster good relationships with the villagers, but the students had difficulties learning the Burmese language. Because the school was old and rundown, I requested support for funds to renovate the school.
I was happy when the AEON project came to this village as I heard ADRA had built many schools in areas nearby. The school was in desperate need of new furniture and more classrooms. In the summer months, the classrooms were so hot for both teachers and students alike.
It took 4 months for school construction to be finalised with the support of the villagers including exterior work such as fencing, school signboard, water tank, toilet and school gate. I helped the workers obtain local materials such as sand, brick and stone. Whenever there were issues with the construction process, I always called the AEON project engineer for support.
Soon, I was able to establish SMC meetings once a month and encourage parents to attend education awareness events causing them to be more active in their children’s education. The children are happy and want to attend school. My aim is to expand the school into a Middle level and continue to work with villagers to maintain our new school building.

ဦးစော၏ ဇာတ်ကြောင်း- ကရင်ပြည်နယ်အတွင်း စာသင်ကျောင်းဆောက်လုပ်ရေးအတွက် ADRA က ပံ့ပိုးပေးခြင်း
ကျွန်တော့နာမည်က ဦးစောပါ။ ကျွန်တော်က ကရင်ပြည်နယ်အတွင်းရှိတဲ့ မူလတန်းကျောင်းတစ်ကျောင်းရဲ့ ကျောင်းအုပ်ဆရာတစ်ဦးပါ။
ကျွန်တော်ကောလိပ်ကနေဘွဲ့ရတဲ့အခါ အလုပ်ရှာလို့မရခဲ့တာကြောင့် ရန်ကုန်ကိုပြောင်းရွှေ့ခဲ့ပြီး ရေခဲမုန့်ဆိုင်မှာ ရှစ်လလောက် အလုပ်လုပ်ခဲ့တယ်။ နောက်မကြာမီမှာပဲ ကျွန်တော်မူလတန်းကျောင်းတစ်ခုမှာ သုံးနှစ်အလုပ်လုပ်ကိုင်ဖို့အတွက် လျှောက်ထားခဲ့တယ်။
အဲဒီနောက်ပိုင်း၂၀၁၈ ခုနှစ်မှာ ကျွန်တော့လက်ရှိကျောင်းကို ပြောင်းရွှေ့ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ကျွန်တော်ဒီကျောင်းကို ရောက်ခါစကတော့ ဆရာတွေရောကျောင်းသုံးပရိဘောဂပစ္စည်းတွေရောက မလုံလောက်ဘူး။
ရွာသားတွေကလည်း ကျောင်းစီမံခန့်ခွဲရေးအစည်းအဝေးတွေကို လုပ်တာမျိုးမရှိသေးပါဘူး။ ကျွန်တော်အနေနဲ့ ရွာသူရွာသားတွေနဲ့ပေါင်းသင်း ဆက်ဆံရေးကောင်းမွန်ဖို့ ကြိုးစားခဲ့တယ်။ ဒါပေမဲ့ကျောင်းသားတွေက မြန်မာ(ဗမာ)စကားသင်ယူဖို့တော့ အခက်အခဲတွေ ရှိခဲ့ပြန်တယ်။ နောက်ပြီးကျောင်းကလည်း ဟောင်းနွမ်းယိုယွင်းတာတွေရှိခဲ့တယ်။ ဒါကြောင့်ကျောင်းကို ပြန်လည်ပြုပြင်ဖို့ ရန်ပုံငွေထောက်ပံ့ဖို့ ကျွန်တော်အနေနဲ့ တောင်းခံခဲ့ပါတယ်။
AEON စီမံကိန်း ဒီရွာကိုရောက်လာတဲ့အခါ နောက်ပြီးတော့ ADRA အနေနဲ့ အနီးပတ်ဝန်းကျင်ဒေသတွေမှာ စာသင်ကျောင်းတွေ အများကြီးဆောက်ပေးခဲ့တာကိုလည်း ကျွန်တော်အရမ်းဝမ်းသာပါတယ်။ ကျောင်းမှာဆိုရင် ပရိဘောဂအသစ်တွေနဲ့ စာသင်ခန်းတွေလည်း လိုအပ်ပါတယ်။ အရင်တုန်းက နွေရာသီမှာဆိုရင်လည်း ဆရာတွေနဲ့ ကျောင်းသားတွေအတွက် စာသင်ခန်းက အရမ်းပူအိုက်လွန်းပါတယ်။ အပူဒဏ်ကိုအရမ်းခံခဲ့ရတယ်။
နောက်ကျောင်းဝင်းကို ခြံစည်းရိုးခတ်တာ၊ ကျောင်းဆိုင်းဘုတ်တင်တာ၊ ရေစည်နဲ့ အိမ်သာဆောက်တာတို့နဲ့ ကျောင်းတံခါးတပ်ဆင်ပြုပြင်တာမျိုးလိုအလုပ်တွေကို ရွာသားတွေနဲ့ ပါဝင်ကူညီပံ့ပိုးပေးမှုနဲ့လုပ်တာ ကျောင်းဆောင်သစ်ပြီးစီးဖို့က လေးလလောက်တော့ ကြာခဲ့ပါတယ်။
သဲတို့အုတ်တို့ကျောက်တို့လို ဒေသထွက်ပစ္စည်းတွေရဖို့ အလုပ်သမားတွေကိုလည်း ကျွန်တော်ကူညီခဲ့တယ်။ ဆောက်လုပ်ရေးလုပ်ငန်းစဉ်တွေနဲ့ ပတ်သက်ပြီးတော့ ကိစ္စတစ်ခုခု ရှိတယ်ဆိုရင်လည်း AEON စီမံကိန်းက အင်ဂျင်နီယာကို အမြဲခေါ်ပြီး အကူအညီတောင်းခဲ့ပါတယ်။
သိပ်မကြာခင်မှာပဲ ကျွန်တော်အနေနဲ့ ကျောင်းစီမံခန့်ခွဲရေးကော်မတီကို တည်ထောင်နိုင်ခဲ့တယ်။ တစ်လတစ်ကြိမ် အစည်းအဝေးလုပ်ပြီး မိဘတွေကို သူတို့ရဲ့ ကလေးတွေပညာရေးမှာ တက်ကြွစွာပါဝင်ပေးဖို့ကိုလည်း တိုက်တွန်းအားပေးခဲ့တယ်။ ဒါကြောင့်ကလေးတွေအနေနဲ့ လည်း ပျော်ရွှင်ပြီးကျောင်းဆက်တက်ချင်ကြတယ်။ နောက်ပြီး ကျွန်တော်ရဲ့ ရည်ရွယ်ချက်ကလည်း အခုကျောင်းကို အလယ်တန်း အဆင့်အထိ တိုးချဲ့ပြီး ကျောင်းအဆောက်အအုံအသစ်ကိုလည်း ရွာသူရွာသားတွေနဲ့အတူတကွ ရေရှည်တည်တံ့အောင် ဆက်လက်ထိန်းသိမ်းသွားဖို့ပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
“ကျောင်းဆောက်လုပ်မှုပြီးစီးသွားတဲ့အခါမှာတော့ အဲဒါက ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့စာသင်ကြားရေးအတွက် အကျိုးပြုသလို ကလေးတွေအတွက်လည်း ဘေးအန္တရာယ်ကင်းကင်း လုံလုံခြုံခြုံနဲ့ စာသင်ကြားနိုင်တဲ့အတွက် အရမ်းအထောက်အကူဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ အခုတော့ စာသင်ခန်းတွေနဲ့ ပရိဘောဂပစ္စည်းတွေလည်း လုံလောက်နေပါပြီ” ဟု ၄င်းက ဆိုသည်။
