Interview with VT (Vocational Training) School Committee Leader, Saw Pu Khar.
When I first heard that KECD was launching a new Vocational Training Centre in partnership with ADRA Myanmar, I was happy, very happy. I feel that it is really useful and beneficial for future generations. Vocational Education is not formal education, it requires a high standard of education in order to earn a living. I have always said that it is really useful to learn.
I could not help much financially to construct the training school, but I did what I could. I contacted the other village leaders to support site cleaning prior to construction and organizing the community to actively participate. We also chipped stones to create a pathway to the school and built a new dormitory for the students.
Three villages supported the construction by KECD including Mae Ka Nel, Noe Hpoe and Htee Mu Hta villages. I was very happy to know that ADRA Myanmar would support it. The training center belongs to all of us.
I want vocational education to be sustainable in our area. The Karen people have suffered many years and have repeatedly hoped for peace. I want to tell the leaders from KECD and the community to continue to work hard for sustainability and I will help as much as possible.
I would like to see the expansion of more short courses in order to create more job opportunities for young people in rural areas so that they will be able to generate their own income and support their families. I do not want it to disappear in a year or two. I want it to last forever and be available to generation after generation even when I have passed on.

သက်မွေးပညာသင်တန်းကျောင်းဆောက်လုပ်ခြင်းမှသည် ကရင်ပြည်နယ်အား ပညာရေးအခွင့်အလမ်းကို ဆောင်ကျဉ်းပေးခြင်း
သက်မွေးပညာသင်တန်းကျောင်းကော်မတီခေါင်းဆောင် Saw Pu Khar နှင့် တွေ့ဆုံမေးမြန်းခြင်း။
KECD က ADRA နဲ့ပူးပေါင်းပြီး သက်မွေးပညာလေ့ကျင့်ရေး စင်တာအသစ်ကို ဖွင့်လှစ်နေတယ်လို့ ပထမဦးဆုံးကြားသိခဲ့ရတော့ ကျွန်တော်အရမ်းပျော်သလို ဝမ်းလည်းသာတယ်။ အနာဂတ်မျိုးဆက်သစ်တွေအတွက် ဒီဟာကအရမ်းကိုအသုံးဝင်တယ်၊ အကျိုးရှိတယ်လို့ သိပါတယ်။ သက်မွေးပညာသင်တန်းက Formal ပညာရေး မဟုတ်သော်လည်း လူနေမှုဘဝကောင်းမွန်စွာရရှိဖို့အတွက် အဆင့်မြင့်ပညာကလည်း လိုအပ်ပါတယ်။ ဒါကိုလေ့လာရတာက တကယ်ကိုအသုံးဝင်တယ်လို့ အမြဲပြောခဲ့တယ်။
ကျွန်တော်အနေနဲ့ သင်တန်းကျောင်းဆောက်လုပ်ဖို့ ငွေရေးကြေးရေးအရတော့ အများကြီးမကူညီနိုင်ပေမယ့် တတ်နိုင်သရွေ့လေးတော့ ကူညီလုပ်ကိုင်ပေးခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဆောက်လုပ်ရေးမစတင်မီ နေရာရှင်းလင်းရေးတွေလုပ်ဖို့ ရပ်ရွာလူထုကိုလည်း တက်ကြွစွာ ပါဝင်နိုင်အောင် စည်းရုံးဖို့အတွက် အခြားကျေးရွာတွေက ခေါင်းဆောင်တွေနဲ့လည်း အဆက်အသွယ်လုပ်ပြီး ဆောင်ရွက်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ကျွန်တော်တို့အနေနဲ့ ကျောင်းကိုသွားတဲ့ လမ်းပိုင်းတွေခင်းတာနဲ့ ကျောင်းသားတွေအတွက် အဆောင်သစ်ကိုလည်း တည်ဆောက်ပေးခဲ့ပါတယ်။
ဒီဟာ ဆောက်လုပ်ရေးနဲ့ပတ်သက်ပြီးတော့လည်း KECD၊ မဲကနဲ၊ နို့ဖိုး၊ ထီးမူထစတဲ့ ကျေးရွာသုံးရွာက ဒေသခံတွေကလည်း ပါဝင်ကူညီပေးခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ADRA Myanmar က အဲဒါကိုထောက်ပံ့ပေးမယ်ဆိုတာသိရလို့ ကျွန်တော်အရမ်းပျော်ခဲ့တယ်။ သင်ကြားလေ့ကျင့်ရေးစင်တာ ဆိုတာမျိုးက ကျွန်တော်တို့အားလုံးနဲ့လည်း သက်ဆိုင်နေတယ်ဆိုတာမျိုးပါ။
ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ဒေသမှာ သက်မွေးပညာရေးနဲ့ပတ်သက်ပြီး ထာဝရတည်တံ့နေတာကိုလည်း လိုချင်ပါတယ်။ ကရင်လူမျိုးတွေဟာ နှစ်ပေါင်းများစွာ ဆင်းရဲဒုက္ခခံစားခဲ့ရပြီး ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေးအတွက် အကြိမ်ကြိမ်မျှော်လင့်ခဲ့ကြပါတယ်။ ဒီဟာရေရှည်တည်တံ့ခိုင်မြဲရေးအတွက် ဆက်လက်ဆောင်ရွက်ပေးကြပါလို့ KECD ကခေါင်းဆောင်တွေနဲ့ ရပ်ရွာလူထုကိုလည်း တိုက်တွန်းချင်ပါတယ်။ ကျွန်တော်ကိုယ်တိုင်လည်း တတ်နိုင်သမျှတော့ ကြိုးစားကူညီဆောင်ရွက်သွားမှာပါ။
ကျေးလက်ဒေသမှာရှိတဲ့ လူငယ်တွေအတွက် အလုပ်အကိုင်အခွင့်အလမ်းတွေ ပိုမိုဖန်တီးနိုင်ဖို့ ကာလတိုသက်မွေးသင်တန်းတွေ တိုးချဲ့ မှာကိုလည်း ကျွန်တော်မြင်လိုပါတယ်။ ဒါမှသာ သူတို့တွေအနေနဲ့ ကိုယ်ပိုင်ဝင်ငွေရရှိပြီး မိသားစုတွေကို ပြန်ထောက်ပံ့နိုင်မှာပါ။ တစ်နှစ်၊ ၂ နှစ်လောက်နဲ့ပဲ ဒါတွေကို မပျောက်ပျက်သွားစေချင်ပါဘူး။ ကျွန်တော်တို့ ကွယ်လွန်ပြီးသွားတဲ့အချိန်အထိ မျိုးဆက်သစ်တွေအတွက် ထာဝရတည်တံ့စေလိုပါတယ်။
“ဆရာတွေနဲ့ ကျောင်းသားတွေရဲ့ ထောက်ပံ့ကြေးအပြင် သင်ထောက်ကူပစ္စည်းတွေကိုပါ ထောက်ပံ့ပေးလို့ ကျေးဇူးတင်ပါတယ်။ ဒီလိုအကူအညီက တကယ်ပဲ အရေးကြီးပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့်ဒီသက်မွေးပညာလေ့ကျင့်ရေးစင်တာကို လာရောက်ထောက်ပံ့ပေးတဲ့ ADRA Myanmar ကိုလည်း ကျေးဇူးအများကြီးတင်ပါတယ်” ဟု ၄င်းကဆိုသည်။
